A recurring problem rarely returns wearing exactly the same clothes. The difficult boss becomes the difficult client. The relationship ends, yet a strangely familiar dynamic appears with someone else. A habit is abandoned only for another behavior to begin performing the same function. Because the details change, each occurrence can look like an entirely new problem.
The repetition becomes easier to see when attention shifts from what happened to what remained consistent. Different circumstances can produce remarkably similar positions, reactions, bargains, or outcomes. The names and settings may be incidental. What matters is the architecture that survives every change of scenery. A pattern becomes far more interesting once changing the obvious variables fails to make it disappear.
