Every environment comes with boundaries that appear to have been there forever. Meetings happen at certain times. Credentials determine who gets heard. Families develop rules no one remembers establishing. Entire industries operate according to standards inherited from people who may no longer be in the room. Once everyone learns how to move within an arrangement, its origins become remarkably easy to forget.
That is where structure becomes interesting. A boundary can begin as one person’s decision, survive as a useful convention, and eventually acquire the appearance of necessity. People stop asking why the line is there and begin organizing themselves around it instead. Nothing has to enforce the arrangement once everyone has learned where not to step.
